Garden of the Sea (VR) launched on January 13, 2022 after a period of Early Access development. Following its 1.0 release, the developer shipped two post-launch content updates: the Trading Update on May 26, 2022 (new merchant system, tool upgrades, new merchants) and the Adventure Update on July 7, 2022 (new island, endgame puzzle, whale companion). The Adventure Update appears to be the last substantive content addition to the VR version of the game — there have been no further major content releases or developer communications directed at this specific VR title since July 7, 2022. From mid-2022 onward, Neat Corporation's public communications shifted focus to other projects. In September–October 2024, they announced and released a separate non-VR version of Garden of the Sea (a different Steam product, App ID 2887410) for PC and Nintendo Switch. In May 2025, the studio announced an entirely new game called Crossings, a VR roguelite, which launched on December 18, 2025. These announcements confirm the studio is healthy and active — they simply moved on to new titles rather than continuing to update the VR version of Garden of the Sea. The VR edition of Garden of the Sea appears to have reached its content endpoint with the Adventure Update on July 7, 2022. No further content has been announced or released for it, and the developer's attention has clearly moved to other projects. The game is complete and available as a finished product.
