Gateways launched on September 13, 2012 as a complete retro-styled 2D platformer. Post-launch, the developer shipped two feature updates: Steam Workshop support with a level editor on August 28, 2013, and a graphics overhaul update (v1.15) on February 6, 2014. There have been no developer communications of any kind since February 6, 2014 — over 12 years ago. No DLC was ever released or announced, no roadmap or future content was communicated, and the store description makes no mention of planned additions. The game was clearly shipped as a self-contained product, and the two post-launch updates were polish and community tooling rather than the start of an ongoing content cycle. Development concluded with the February 2014 update.
