Good Knight entered Steam Early Access on September 17, 2021 and received a consistent stream of feature patches throughout late 2021 and 2022 — including Steam Workshop support, new game modes, new characters, difficulty options, and various gameplay improvements. The last patch prior to a long silence was the Halloween update in October 2022. After October 2022, the game went without any developer communication for over three years. On June 7, 2026, developer Alex posted a "Revival of Good Knight" update explaining the silence: the studio experienced financial difficulties, publisher problems, and a general lack of experience managing the project. Despite this, Alex reaffirmed deep personal attachment to the game and stated that they are finding a way forward. A small patch accompanied the post, described as a way to regain momentum, with promises of further patches and improvements to follow. The game remains in Early Access and has not reached a 1.0 release.
