Evaluation
Double Kick Heroes launched out of Early Access on August 13, 2020 as a fully complete game, featuring a full story mode with 50 tracks, multiple game modes, and all planned content that had been developed across the Early Access period (which began in 2017–2018 with a published roadmap). The post-launch period saw only minor bug-fix patches in the days immediately following release, with no new content added after launch.
The clearest signal about this game's future came on August 16, 2024, when the developer posted an announcement titled "Next game: DeathTower." In it, Headbang Club explicitly stated that "Double Kick Heroes has lived its best life, it is now time to checkout what we are creating next." This is a direct developer statement that Double Kick Heroes is finished and the studio has moved on to their next project, DeathTower.
The single DLC listed on the store — the Original Soundtrack — was released on April 11, 2018, well before the game's 1.0 launch, and there are no unreleased DLC entries. No future content, updates, or expansions for Double Kick Heroes have been announced at any point since the 1.0 launch. The game shipped as a complete product on August 13, 2020, and the developer has since confirmed they consider it done.
Evidence
Developer explicitly stated 'Double Kick Heroes has lived its best life, it is now time to checkout what we are creating next,' announcing their new game DeathTower and directing players to wishlist it.
Double Kick Heroes officially left Early Access on August 13, 2020, launching as a complete product with a full story mode, 50 tracks, 5 difficulty settings, and multiple game modes across PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.
