Gray Zone Warfare

Gray Zone Warfare has been in Steam Early Access since April 30, 2024 and remains in that state. MADFINGER Games continues active development at a sustained pace, having shipped four major named updates during Early Access: the original launch version, followed by major updates culminating in Spearhead (Update 0.4) on March 31, 2026, and a steady series of patches through at least Patch 0.4.7.0 on July 27, 2026. The next major milestone — Update 0.5: Rogue Ops — was formally announced on October 1, 2026, with a confirmed release date of October 22, 2026 (with a Supporter Preview beginning October 19). The developer describes this update as marking the game's official transition from pre-alpha to alpha stage. It introduces an entirely new gameplay loop centered on building a Hideout and crafting, a new rogue PMC role with smuggling activities, new weapons, and large new explorable locations. The studio has been highly communicative in the lead-up to this release: sneak peeks were shown at Gamescom in September 2026, a new trailer premiered at the FPS Games Show on September 3, 2026, and a three-part devlog series is planned before a Q&A livestream kicks off the Supporter Preview. On August 13, 2026, MADFINGER Games also announced the hiring of Ivan Buchta — veteran Creative Director of the Arma series — as Associate Creative Director, signaling long-term investment in the game's development direction. There are no signs of studio distress; the game recently surpassed 1.7 million copies sold.
