Evaluation

Marauders entered Steam Early Access on October 3, 2022 and remains in that state today. The developer, Small Impact Games, has shipped multiple major content updates since launch: The United Allies update (April 25, 2023), Plunder (August 3, 2023), Guilds 1.0 (December 14, 2023), and the large Retribution 1.0 update (August 16, 2024). That Retribution post explicitly stated the team felt they were "only just getting started" and mentioned a new roadmap was in the works. Most recently, on April 21, 2026, the developer posted a production update acknowledging a period of silence and explaining that what began as a patch round grew into a full overhaul of core systems. They confirmed active work is ongoing and said the next public-facing milestone will be a Technical Stress Test branch opening for community testing. No release date was given for that branch, but the communication makes clear development is continuing rather than winding down. The game has no unreleased DLC listed on the store. The developer has not announced a 1.0 launch date or declared the game complete. The April 2026 update is the most recent developer communication and points to continued, active development work ahead of a future major update.

About this game

Marauders is a tactical first-person multiplayer shooter set in an alternative 1990s where The Great War never ended, Earth has been industrialised to its breaking point, and many have fled to the stars. As space mercenaries known as ‘Marauders’, players will gear up and pilot their ships through hostile galactic reaches to salvage anything they can and survive by any means necessary. Throughout each match, players will be able to upgrade their gear on-the-fly as they uncover troves of loot from daring raids on hulking frigates and embark on tense touchdowns on moving asteroids. They’ll also have to keep a close watch for others looking to do the same and end their expedition with a bullet.
