Gunlocked launched out of Early Access on December 6, 2022, and received one paid DLC — The 2nd Gunning — on March 8, 2023, which added new bosses, pilots, upgrades, and other content alongside a free update for all players.
On March 15, 2025, the developer posted a direct statement about the game's status, saying: "development stopped on Gunlocked quite some time ago." The developer explained that as a solo developer, returning to an older game takes time away from current projects, and that player feedback on Gunlocked 1 was instead being channeled into Gunlocked 2. This is a clear, explicit statement that development on this game is finished.
The developer's focus has moved fully to Gunlocked 2, which launched in Early Access in August 2025 and reached its 1.0 release on March 30, 2026. In the March 2026 post announcing Gunlocked 2's 1.0, the developer also noted: "I don't think there will be another Gunlocked," further confirming there are no plans to return to the original game. The sole DLC on the store has been released, and no additional content has been announced or hinted at for this title.
