Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite launched on November 15, 2021 and has operated as a live-service free-to-play multiplayer title throughout its lifecycle, with a separately purchasable campaign component. The multiplayer is structured around recurring seasonal Operations, each featuring new modes, maps, weapons, vehicles, cosmetic passes, and a monetized shop. On November 7, 2025, 343 Industries published a developer update announcing that Operation: Infinite — launching November 18, 2025 — would be "the last major content update currently planned," citing the need to focus the full team on multiple new Halo titles in development. However, 343 simultaneously stated they "remain committed to supporting Halo Infinite on the road ahead." Notably, this announcement did not mark the end of the game's live-service activity. The November 18, 2025 launch of Operation: Infinite shipped a 100-tier Operation Pass with no expiration date, 200+ new cosmetics in The Exchange, new maps, and refreshed Ranked Seasons. That same post teased a free anniversary customization bundle available to all players who log in anytime during 2026 — explicitly extending engagement into the current year. More significantly, on May 5, 2026 — well after the "last major content update" announcement — 343 Industries shipped a brand-new PvE mode called Firefight: Gauntlet, complete with new mechanics, five maps, and boss-filled progression. This constitutes a substantial content release that postdates the November 2025 statement, demonstrating that the game continues to receive meaningful updates despite the earlier characterization of Operation: Infinite as the last planned major update. The Shop continues to rotate paid cosmetic bundles, and The Exchange offers ongoing free cosmetic redemption. The game's underlying live-service structure — seasonal passes, currency economy, and rotating content — remains fully operational. The developer has not announced a shutdown date or end-of-service for the multiplayer.
