Evaluation

Hardspace: Shipbreaker launched into Early Access in June 2020 and reached its full 1.0 release on May 24, 2022, completing its three-act campaign and all planned Early Access features. The two DLC items on the store — the Original Soundtrack and Digital Artbook — are both released and purely supplementary. The most significant recent development is a major announcement from August 14, 2025: Blackbird Interactive reacquired full ownership of the Hardspace IP from publisher Focus Entertainment. In that announcement, the studio explicitly confirmed that "multiple Hardspace projects are already in development," describing the franchise as a core part of their business strategy going forward. A follow-up patch on March 11, 2026 (version 1.3.0.1263554) made cosmetic changes to reflect the new ownership — updating splash screens, logos, and privacy notices — and reiterated that "our teams are hard at work and cannot wait to reveal more when the time is right." The base game itself appears content-complete — no new DLC or updates to the existing game have been announced. However, because Blackbird Interactive has explicitly stated that new Hardspace games are in active development, the franchise is clearly not finished. Players who want to follow the full Hardspace journey should watch for future announcements from Blackbird Interactive, as new titles in the series are confirmed to be on the way.
Evidence
Patch 1.3.0.1263554 applied cosmetic branding changes to reflect new ownership. Developer reiterated that teams are working on new Hardspace projects and thanked the community for patience.
