HAYAI launched on May 19, 2022 as a self-contained arcade arena game with 5 characters and a unique mouse-based combat system. In the days following launch, the developer pushed several patches addressing bugs, performance, and minor balance changes (through May 30, 2022). On May 27, 2022, the developer explicitly stated that balance updates were likely finished and that they were moving on to their next project, SKULL CHAINZ. That transition was confirmed on October 31, 2022, when the developer announced SKULL CHAINZ had released, describing HAYAI as the stepping stone that helped them break into commercial game development. No new content, DLC, roadmap, or future plans for HAYAI have been announced at any point. The game launched as a complete product and all post-launch activity was limited to polish and maintenance in the immediate weeks after release.
