Head Shot entered Steam Early Access on June 3, 2016 and received a burst of patches and announcements during its first few weeks. Developer activity declined significantly after that initial launch period, with the last feature patches shipping in mid-June 2016 and the last bug fix in the same window. On August 1, 2016, the developer posted a notice revealing they were searching for a sponsor and publisher to keep the game going — a sign of financial instability. A November 2016 post shifted focus to promoting an entirely different game (Shot Shot Tactic) on Steam Greenlight. The final developer communication was posted on March 12, 2017, asking players for feedback before beginning further coding work. No updates, patches, or posts of any kind have appeared since that date. The game's store page still lists numerous planned features as unfinished — more weapons, additional game modes, an open chest system — and the game remains in Early Access with no 1.0 release ever announced or delivered. With the last developer communication on March 12, 2017 and no activity in over nine years, it is unclear whether development is continuing in any form.
