Evaluation
Hellsplit: Arena launched on Steam in September 2019 and has received a long history of post-launch updates, including major content drops such as firearms and climbing mechanics (September 2022) and full mod support with Update 1.2 (August 2023).
On July 10, 2026 — just two days before this assessment — the developer broke their year-long silence with two significant posts. The first is a direct statement about the future of Hellsplit: Arena: the developer intends to ship several updates by end of 2026, specifically Sandbox Mode (Update 1.3), mod support for the Meta Quest version, separate Legacy and Current Steam branches, various bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, and Steam Achievements. They are candid that technical limitations prevent larger additions, and that this represents the end of Arena's active development lifecycle — "not as a goodbye, but as a foundation for what comes next."
The second post announces Hellsplit: Labyrinth, a standalone sequel/successor title currently targeting Q1 2027 on Meta Quest and PC VR. Development on Labyrinth began in 2023 and was originally intended as an expansion for Arena before being spun out as its own game.
The previously uncertain situation — a year of silence following a missed autumn 2025 PC update promise — has now been resolved. The developer explains the silence was due to having nothing meaningful to share, and has now clarified exactly what remains planned for Arena. The promised content is concrete and specific, and the developer has actively recommitted to it as recently as July 10, 2026.

Developer posts update explaining mobile version is ahead of PC version in content, and the team is working to bring the Steam version up to date with a major update targeting autumn 2025.

About this game
A VR horror-slasher in the dark fantasy world of the late Middle Ages filled with the undead. It is gruesome and realistic, with stabbing, cutting and blunt blows, grabs, kicks, and movement tactics — the outcome of each fight depends only on your skill and endurance.
- A unique gameplay in which you and your character are one and the same — a full-fledged avatar, precisely mimicking your movements.
- Physically realistic battles using the weapons and equipment of medieval warriors. The characteristics are as close as possible to real prototypes.
- Realistic body movements. A life-like injury system — superficial wounds, dismemberment.
- Intriguing campaign and additional modes. In-game achievement system.
- Full-fledged room scale VR experience — the game requires the player to be in a vertical position with the ability to move in real space over an area of 1.5 x 1.5 meters with support for VR controllers.
- High-quality graphics and sound.
