Her Last Piece

Her Last Piece is a three-act gothic visual novel currently in Early Access. Act 1 launched on September 10, 2024, and Act 2 shipped on February 14, 2025. Act 3 is the planned final act and remains unreleased. The path to Act 3 has been bumpy. After Act 2 launched, the developer disclosed on February 19, 2025 that it had severely underperformed commercially, putting the project's future in doubt. By April 26, 2025, they revealed the artist had to take on paid work elsewhere to keep himself afloat, and estimated Act 3 could take up to a year to complete. On March 6, 2025, community support — including Patreon contributions — gave the team enough confidence to commit to finishing Act 3 in full rather than abandoning or scaling it back. On June 18, 2026, the developer acknowledged being roughly a month and a half past their own internal one-year hope for completion, with no release date set. They confirmed work was proceeding and that Act 3's script, coding framework, voice acting, music, SFX, and artwork are all being worked on. The most recent developer communication — posted on September 16, 2026, just two days before today's date — is an encouraging progress update. The developer states that Act 3 is "coming together," the team is "working as hard as we can to get Her Last Piece over the finish line," and they wanted to reassure players that development is still active. However, they still have no official release date. The game remains in Early Access by the developer's own design: the store description explicitly states the plan is to sell the game across three acts, with Act 1 being the Early Access entry point. Until Act 3 ships and the game reaches its full release, it remains unfinished. Development is confirmed ongoing as of September 16, 2026, but the history of financial strain, timeline slippage, and the continued absence of a release date mean uncertainty about exactly when the game will be complete.
