Evaluation

Hero's Hour launched on March 1, 2022 and received four major free content updates post-launch: v2.3 "The Magical Update" (December 8, 2022), v2.6 "Great War" (March 4, 2024), v2.7 "The Progression Update" (August 27, 2024), and v2.8 "The Homestead Update" (March 21, 2025). This established a cadence of roughly 6–12 months between major releases. On December 12, 2025, the developer published a [development_status] post announcing Hero's Hour 2. In it, the developer explicitly describes Hero's Hour 1 as having had "some wonderful years of post-launch support" — language that frames the support period as concluded. The same post shipped a minor patch (v2.8.3) covering balance tweaks and sprite additions, but no major content. Critically, the developer states that development time is now being directed toward the sequel: "I am still pooling most of my available development time into something yet invisible and unknown" (from the September 2025 post) was resolved by the December announcement as the sequel. The December 12 post contains no announcement of further Hero's Hour 1 content, expansions, or a roadmap. The outstanding commitment noted in the March 31, 2025 post — 23 new Rogue Realms units planned for v2.8.2 or v2.9 — was addressed in the September 5, 2025 v2.8.2 update, which delivered graphical updates to Rogue Realms units and new heroes. No remaining announced content for Hero's Hour 1 is visible in the record after December 12, 2025. As of October 1, 2026, the last developer communication was the December 12, 2025 post. That is approximately 9.5 months of silence following a post that described post-launch support in the past tense and redirected development effort to a sequel. No new major content, DLC, or roadmap for Hero's Hour 1 has been communicated since then. The established 6–12 month cadence has now been exceeded since the last major update (March 21, 2025 — over 18 months ago), and the developer's own framing in the December 2025 post strongly implies that the support cycle for Hero's Hour 1 is complete. The game launched as a finished product with extensive post-launch additions, and the developer's subsequent energy is now clearly directed at the sequel.
Evidence
Developer announces Hero's Hour 2, describing Hero's Hour 1 as having had 'wonderful years of post-launch support' — past-tense framing of the support era. Simultaneously ships a minor patch (v2.8.3) but announces no further content plans for Hero's Hour 1. States development time is being invested in the sequel.

About this game

Hero's Hour is an accessible, yet-deep and content-rich Strategy Roleplaying Game. Take control of your hero, explore the world, build up your town, fight fast-paced battles, level up your hero and amass an army large enough to take out the opponents - before they take you out.

Turn Based + Real Time

While exploring the overworld and developing your town and army are both turn-based, giving you time to think and plan out your next moves, in battles your units will do the best to fight for themselves in real time - all hundreds of them. Cast spells and give attack orders to swing the tide of battle - or just sit back and watch as your might unfolds.

Procedural Generation

Hero's Hour brings impactful procedural generation to the strategy game formula, ensuring that every time you play, there will be new areas to explore and strange buildings to enhance your hero or army. Seek out obelisks to start you on small procedural quests that send you around the world. You won't even be able to use the same build order each time you play the same faction.

Features

  • 11 factions with special mechanics, strengths and weaknesses
  • 22 hero classes, with a special skill each
