Hired Ops

Hired Ops is a free-to-play, session-based online shooter that launched on April 13, 2021. The game is built around a live-service model: recurring timed operations (e.g., "Snake Bite," "Ringing of Shell," "Code of Silence," "WAR LOOT") that rotate rewards, weapons, and seasonal content on an ongoing basis. Each operation runs for several weeks, awards exclusive weapons and cosmetics for completing contracts and winning matches, and is followed by the next operation. This structure — combined with premium status subscriptions, monetized weapon crates, and clan supply systems — is designed to keep players engaged and spending indefinitely, with no intended endpoint. Since launch, the developer has shipped three major named updates (the 1.0 launch in April 2021, Patch 1.0.2945 in December 2021, and the 1.0.3151 update in June 2022), alongside multiple smaller patches adding features and fixes. A Q&A developer post from August 2021 outlined numerous systems in active development, including weapon mastering improvements, new game modes, tutorial content, and clan features — many of which were subsequently delivered in later updates. The most recent developer communication in the dataset is a hotfix from July 7, 2022. While this represents the last captured post, the live-service nature of the game means ongoing operations and rotational content would continue to run even between captured news posts. The game remains purchasable (it is free-to-play) and the live-service structure is the defining characteristic of its content model.
