Hmmsim Metro has been in Early Access since June 25, 2021 and remains so today — the Steam Early Access flag is still active, and no 1.0 launch announcement has been made. The developer, Jeminie Interactive (a solo developer), has maintained a consistent pattern of substantial updates throughout the game's life. Since late 2024, the following major updates have shipped: - December 31, 2024: A large structural update extending the line to Anyang Station, adding 38 new scenarios, a timetable mode, overhauled AI trains, reworked signals, traffic, and extensive visual improvements. - February 1, 2025: Line extended to Gwangmyeong Station with shuttle trains added. - February 23, 2025: Further extension to Gwangmyeong Depot and old livery trains re-added. These were followed by a series of significant feature patches: - September 21, 2025: Complete train circuit redesign, first-person cab walking, Arduino controller support, and performance improvements. This post explicitly noted that fault-handling features would "be added in the future." - November 29, 2025: Weather system with eight weather types, wheel slip/slide physics, and wiper functionality added. - January 29, 2026: Moving passengers and platform CCTV added. - February 28, 2026: Ray tracing support, a new viewing mode, full engine upgrade (Unreal Engine updated after two years), DLSS 4 and FSR 4 support. As of today, October 1, 2026, the most recent developer communication was the February 28, 2026 feature patch. That represents approximately seven months of silence from the developer. The historical pattern of major updates has typically seen releases every one to three months, meaning the current gap is longer than usual — but the game is still in Early Access with no completion statement, and the September 2025 post explicitly promised future fault-handling content. There is no indication from the developer that development has concluded or that a 1.0 release is imminent.
