Train Sim World 4 launched on September 26, 2023 and received a substantial wave of DLC add-ons throughout its lifecycle — over 100 in total, all of which are now released. The game continued receiving new route and locomotive add-ons through August 2024, with the most recent DLC being the Expert DB BR 101 & IC Steuerwagen on August 8, 2024. Dovetail Games follows an annual release cycle for the Train Sim World franchise, releasing a new numbered entry each September. Train Sim World 5 launched on September 17, 2024, and as of August 20, 2024, Dovetail announced TSW5 as the successor, explicitly noting that TSW4-compatible content would carry over to the new title. The developer's August 2024 roadmap and all subsequent communications shifted focus entirely to TSW5 and the upcoming TSW6 (announced August 26, 2025 for a September 30, 2025 release). No further DLC or updates have been announced for Train Sim World 4 since August 2024. The final DLC shipped on August 8, 2024, and the last patch targeting TSW4 systems was on August 13, 2024 — shortly before TSW5 launched. No new TSW4-specific content has been announced, and Dovetail's development communications have moved on entirely to newer entries in the series. The game is complete as a product, with its add-on catalogue fully shipped.

Evidence

Dovetail announced Train Sim World 6 for September 30, 2025, with a full post-launch add-on roadmap. All development attention has shifted entirely to TSW6, with no mention of any further TSW4 content.
