Evaluation
Hypersomnia is a free-to-play, open-source top-down shooter currently in Early Access on Steam, launched on December 28, 2023. The developer — solo developer Patryk Czachurski — has maintained consistent, hands-on activity since launch across 27 recorded news posts covering bug fixes, feature patches, and major content releases.
Two major content milestones are clearly documented: the launch of Ranked Matches on February 2, 2024, and a significant gameplay update on August 8, 2025 introducing a coin-drop economy system and a new weapon (the Vindicator). A second new weapon (the Bilmik) followed on August 9, 2025, and relay servers for improved connectivity were added on August 23, 2025. A browser-playable version of the game was announced and shipped on June 9, 2024, marking a notable platform expansion. The most recent patch (version 1.6.1, released October 26, 2025) introduced illuminated muzzle flashes casting real-time shadows and a reworked recoil system.
Today's date is September 24, 2026 — approximately 11 months since the last recorded developer communication (October 2025). The two major content drops occurred roughly 18 months apart (February 2024 to August 2025), suggesting a cadence of roughly 12–18 months between major releases. Eleven months of silence is within that established window, so this gap does not indicate the developer has gone quiet beyond their normal pattern. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no live-service monetization, and the developer has made no announcement concluding development or signaling an imminent 1.0 release.
Evidence
Major update 1.4.0 introduced a coin-drop economy system, a new weapon (Vindicator), and balance changes.
Browser-playable version of Hypersomnia launched at hypersomnia.io, allowing players to join servers without installing anything.

Metropolis. Atlantis. Resistance.
