Evaluation

It came from space and ate our brains originally launched on March 19, 2015 and received a series of patches and feature updates through 2015. In January 2020, Triangle Studios released a major remastered version of the game, and followed it with further named updates — the "HARDER" patch (May 6, 2020) and the "FASTER" patch (May 7, 2021). These represent the three major content milestones post-launch. The May 7, 2021 post announcing the FASTER patch also revealed that Triangle Studios had shifted their focus to a new game — FROM SPACE — described as a spiritual successor. This is the last substantive developer communication about this title. No further updates, patches, or content announcements have been made since that date. The developer announced a four-update roadmap in April 2020 (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger), of which Harder and Faster shipped. However, there is no evidence that the "Better" or "Stronger" updates were ever released — and given that the studio publicly pivoted to developing FROM SPACE in May 2021, with no further communications about this title since then, those planned updates were effectively abandoned. The developer's own pivot post signals that active work on this game has concluded. Only one DLC exists — a soundtrack pack released December 14, 2021 — and no unreleased DLC is listed. The soundtrack release is the final store activity for the game. With no new content announced, no unreleased DLC, and developer focus clearly moved on to FROM SPACE, the game appears complete as of May 2021 (when the last content update shipped and the pivot was announced).
Evidence
The FASTER patch was released as a major update. In the same post, Triangle Studios announced they are now developing FROM SPACE, a spiritual successor — signaling a pivot away from this title.
