JCB Pioneer: Mars launched into Steam Early Access on September 1, 2017, and has never graduated to a full 1.0 release. The developer, Atomicom, was active through 2018, spending much of that year rebuilding the game from the ground up as "Version 2.0." This major overhaul shipped to the main Steam branch on December 7, 2018, and that post acknowledged that balancing, additional content (including Research and Workers systems), and further bug fixes were still in progress. The store description also continued to advertise online multiplayer as a forthcoming feature.
Since December 7, 2018, the developer has posted nothing — no patch notes, no status updates, no announcements, and no communication of any kind. That is more than seven years of complete silence as of June 2026. The game remains available for purchase in its Early Access state, but all evidence points to development having stopped without any official acknowledgment from the studio. The promised 1.0 release was never delivered.
