Junk Jack launched on Steam on November 30, 2016 and received a steady stream of major content updates in its first few years: a big 3.0 content patch in October 2016, the Uber Mobs update in March 2017, a visual overhaul in June 2017, a Christmas update in December 2017, and the Pet Hunt update in June 2018. After that, updates shifted to feature patches and bug fixes — controller support in July 2019, stability and Windows 7 compatibility fixes in May 2020. The last developer communication of any kind was on December 2, 2021, when Pixbits marked the game's fifth Steam anniversary by opening an experimental modding branch. That post described the modding tools as "unfinished" and said the full modding infrastructure would be expanded in the future, but no further updates have been posted since that date. The store description includes the line "much more will be possible in the future," but this appears to be evergreen marketing copy that predates the current state of development, not a recent commitment. Since December 2, 2021, Pixbits has posted nothing — no patches, no roadmap, no announcements. The last major content update was the Pet Hunt update on June 18, 2018, now over seven years ago. The development activity visible across 33 news posts has fully tapered off. There are no unreleased DLC items listed, no announced future content, and no recent developer communication suggesting ongoing work. The game appears to have reached the end of its active development cycle, with the December 2, 2021 modding post being the final official communication.
