Evaluation

Terraria continues to receive active development from Re-Logic more than 15 years after its original May 16, 2011 launch. The most recent major update, version 1.4.5 "Bigger & Boulder," shipped on January 27, 2026 across PC, console, and mobile simultaneously. A substantial follow-up balance and content patch, version 1.4.5.7, released for PC on August 19, 2026 — with console and mobile versions clearing submission shortly thereafter. The developer's most recent communication, the September 24, 2026 State of the Game, confirms that Crossplay Phase One (version 1.4.6) is in its final stages and will be submitted "in the near future." The post also teases that something additional may arrive between Crossplay Phase One and Phase Two, hinting at content beyond just the crossplay infrastructure update itself. Re-Logic and partner studio DR Studios held in-person joint planning sessions at Gamescom in late August 2026 — the first such meeting since before COVID — specifically to map out future Terraria updates. The developer has stated these results will be shared publicly in the coming months. The studio also attended TapTap Game Fest 2026 in Shanghai, with the developer describing the experience as leaving the team "fired up for the future of the game." The store description continues to list "Free Content Updates" as a key feature, consistent with Re-Logic's decade-long track record of sustained post-launch support. There is no indication from the developer that development is winding down; all communications point firmly toward ongoing and planned future content.
