Evaluation

Kardboard Kings launched on February 10, 2022 and received a series of post-launch content updates. The first major free content update added three new card sets and decorations on April 5, 2022. A second major update ("Season 2") launched on August 3, 2022, adding three more card sets and the Bargain Bin feature. The third and final major free update, "Card Game Island," launched on December 8, 2022, adding a full card-battling mini-game mode and the "King of Games" hard difficulty. Since that December 2022 release, the only developer communication has been a bug fix patch on February 12, 2025 — which addressed a game-lock bug introduced by Card Game Island, added the Kardboard Kings manga to the main menu, and made a few other minor fixes. No new content has been announced, no unreleased DLC is listed on the store, and the developer has made no statements suggesting further content is planned. The three major updates shipped across roughly 4–8 month intervals through 2022, and that pattern has not continued — the last major content dropped on December 8, 2022, with only maintenance patches since. The game's one listed DLC is the soundtrack, which released alongside the game. All evidence points to a complete, finished product.

About this game

Open your own Card shop by the seaside! Buy, trade and sell Cards, OR keep them for your own collection! Earn reputation with customers, beat your shop goals, unlock new decorations, and host exciting events to bring everyone to the best Card shop in town!

You are Harry Hsu, a young man who recently inherited his father's seaside card shop. Left with just a bit of cash and a tiny inventory, it's up to you to restore the shop's reputation as the center for the most popular trading card game in the world: "Warlock." With the shop’s reputation on the line, you start working behind the counter, juggling the locals' requests while trying to familiarize yourself with the peculiar market of selling Warlock cards.

Your guide, Giuseppe, a fast-talking Cockatoo, helps you in your buying and selling journey - picking up a foil Startled Banana on the cheap and turning it around for a power rare performing great at tournaments. Host booster drafts, clearance sales, in-house tournaments, and release parties for new sets in the game, making sure that your customers have every card they need to be the best duelist in town.

But if you want to be the best duelist Warlock has ever seen, you'll get your opportunity when you travel to Card Game Island! A veritable tropical paradise featuring sandy beaches, sunny skies and the best, toughest Warlock duelists out there. Master your deck, find the legendary cards, and you might just have the chance to outplay the very best duelist in the world. Be careful, though. A single loss sends you home, so only the very best duelists will prevail!
