Evaluation

Little Fighter 2 Remastered launched on July 18, 2025. From day one, the store description has promised that "new characters and level will be introduced in subsequent updates," establishing a clear commitment to future content. The developer published a detailed roadmap on July 28, 2025, outlining several planned free updates — including a new Stage 6 with new characters (explicitly marked "MUST DO") — as well as paid DLC packs (an Artbook, an Original Character Pack, and an Unlock All Content pack). None of these have been delivered yet. Since launch, the developer has been actively shipping updates: a feature patch (v2.11) on July 26, 2025; another (v2.12) on August 4, 2025; another (v2.14b) on August 23, 2025; and a major update (v2.16) on December 25, 2025 introducing Steam Network Mode for up to 8 players and a new Cost-Based VS Mode. The December 2025 update delivered two of the items from the July 2025 roadmap (Steam matchmaking and Cost-Based VS Mode), confirming the developer is actively working through their commitments. As of today (September 24, 2026), the most recent developer communication was on December 25, 2025 — roughly nine months ago. The developer is a solo indie developer who had previously maintained a cadence of updates roughly every few weeks to a couple of months. Nine months of silence is longer than prior gaps, but given the solo nature of development and the prior pattern of burnout mentioned in the August 2025 post, this alone does not indicate a crisis. Critically, Stage 6 with new characters remains an outstanding "MUST DO" commitment from the roadmap, along with the announced DLC packs. These are specific, named commitments that have not been delivered.
Evidence
Major update v2.16 shipped Steam Network Mode (up to 8 computers) and Cost-Based VS Mode — both previously listed on the roadmap. This is the most recent developer communication.
