Evaluation
Lost For Swords launched on April 15, 2025. Within days, developer MaxBytes published a formal commitment stating the game "will continue to receive long-term updates," with a roadmap to follow covering new content, Workshop support, quality-of-life improvements, and more.
The developer has delivered consistently on that promise. Steam Workshop support shipped on July 4, 2025, and a brand-new hero — the Warlock, with 100+ new cards, new card types (Minions and Reactions), and new mechanics — launched on December 9, 2025. Multiple feature patches have also shipped in between and before these milestones, adding cards, reworking bosses, and refining balance.
The two major content drops are separated by approximately five months (July to December 2025). As of today, September 24, 2026, it has been approximately nine and a half months since the Warlock launched — beyond that five-month interval. However, looking at the broader update history (which stretches back through the pre-launch demo period with a very active update cadence), and given the developer's explicit April 2025 commitment to long-term updates with no subsequent statement walking that back, this silence period alone does not signal that development has concluded. The developer has not announced that further content is complete or that development is ending.
No specific future content has been announced, and no unreleased DLC is listed on the store. The game continues to be purchasable with a strong review score (90% positive from 308 reviews).
Evidence
The Warlock hero launched with 100+ new cards, new card types (Minions, Reactions), and new mechanics, representing the second major content update post-launch.
Steam Workshop support launched, along with new cards and balance improvements — the first major feature delivery following the April 2025 commitment.
