Lost Rift launched into Early Access on September 25, 2025 by People Can Fly, and the game is explicitly still in that phase. Since launch, the developer has been highly active: they shipped two major content updates — "Welcome to Locker Island" on December 17, 2025, which added a new expedition island, swamp biome, PvE-only mode, and new weapons and bosses; and the "Gun Modding Update" on April 1, 2026, which introduced a full weapon modification system and sweeping changes to combat, progression, and world design. Between and around these major updates, the developer has released a steady stream of feature patches and hotfixes addressing balance, AI, consumables, networking, and new content like new locations and quests (most recently Patch 7 on May 26, 2026, which added the Highpoint Institute location and a new shotgun). On January 28, 2026, the developer published an updated Early Access roadmap outlining future priorities including character visibility improvements, a Storm event on Western Island, and ongoing stability work — confirming that significant planned content remains ahead. An earlier commitment statement on October 30, 2025 reaffirmed People Can Fly's dedication to improving the game throughout Early Access. The developer is communicating frequently, shipping content regularly, and has a published roadmap with features not yet delivered. Lost Rift is actively being developed toward its eventual 1.0 release.
