Evaluation

LOVE 2: kuso launched on November 7, 2017 and received a substantial post-launch history of updates. One year after launch, on November 20, 2018, the developer Fred Wood released a major free update adding 16 remade levels, new music, 2-player race mode, 9 additional levels, new achievements, and leaderboards — along with a Nintendo Switch port. This was accompanied by a paid Soundtrack Vol. 2 DLC. A follow-up bug fix shipped on November 27, 2018, and a further feature update on January 15, 2019 revealed the final secret in the game. The most recent substantial update, released on March 10, 2020, added a new options menu, in-game achievements tracking, local leaderboards, a new level select menu, YOLO mode with medals, a bonus level, and the cosmetic "Hat" DLC. After the March 2020 update, Fred Wood's attention appears to have shifted to LOVE 3, a sequel. A July 2022 post provided Steam Deck compatibility instructions for kuso, but this was a maintenance/support note rather than new content. A June 2021 announcement promoted LOVE 3's upcoming demo at Steam NextFest, signaling that the developer had moved on to the next game in the series. All three DLC items are released, no unreleased DLC exists, and no further content for kuso has been announced since March 2020. The developer's last substantive communication about new content for this game was the March 10, 2020 update, and the developer has publicly moved on to developing LOVE 3. The game launched as a complete product and received meaningful post-launch content through early 2020, after which development concluded.
