Evaluation
Jump Off The Bridge is a solo-developed absurd retro-platformer that has been in Early Access on Steam since May 1, 2019. Developer Cody Penn has continuously expanded the game over seven years with new levels, bosses, mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements.
The game has received six major content updates since launch: Journey to the West Part 1 (March 2020), V2.0 The Hardmode Time Wizard (February 2021), V2.1 with three new levels (November 2021), V1.2.6.0 with 15 new levels and a new boss (December 2024), V1.2.6.3 "Turning Thirty" with three more levels and new systems (February 2026), and the 7th Anniversary Update V1.2.7.0 with three additional levels (April 28, 2026). The gap between the December 2024 and April 2026 updates saw multiple smaller feature patches as well.
The April 2026 anniversary post closes with a preview of an upcoming level called "Pointless," and the December 2024 update introduced a work-in-progress level editor that has not yet been completed. These signal that the developer considers work on the game ongoing. Cody Penn's posts consistently frame the project as a continuing creative endeavor — the 6th anniversary post states "I have a lot I still want to do, and I intend to continue working on it," and the birthday update (February 2026) discusses plans for further projects and artistic direction.
The most recent developer communication was on April 28, 2026 — less than two months before today's date — confirming the developer is actively engaged with the game.

GAMEPLAY
Jump Off The Bridge is a platformer with an emphasis on difficulty and unique level design. Each level, the player is required to jump off the bridge, but dying in any other sense, is failure. You may encounter characters that require items, methodical puzzle levels, intensely difficult platforming, tough levels that test your reaction time, and even bosses. Jump Off The Bridge is a meticulously crafted world that avoids the overuse of previously introduced sprites and characters. Every level feels unique, and is memorable. As a retro-gamer, I wanted to create an homage to the games I know and love; nail-biting platformer games with interesting worlds and enemies. JOTB is a passion project crafted with an emphasis on humor, absurdity, and unique level design. I'm aware retro-platforming indie games tend to be the punchline of the joke within game development circles. However, this retro-platformer is a far cry from its contemporaries.

Are you a platforming god?
If this game isn't hard enough for you, don't worry, Hardmode is a planned feature for following updates. And I promise, it will be horribly difficult.
