Evaluation

Magicka launched on January 25, 2011 and received a substantial library of DLC — all 24 listed items are marked as released, with the latest dated October 31, 2013 (Dungeons and Gargoyles) and December 17, 2013 (The Ninth Element Novel). The game then went quiet on content for several years before Paradox revived it in 2018 as a platform for UI/UX experimentation. In May 2018, Paradox explicitly explained their reason for returning to Magicka: they wanted to run A/B tests and UI experiments using Magicka 1 and Crusader Kings 2 as test beds. This was framed as a technical and research exercise — not a commitment to new story content or expansions. Over the following months, the team added an in-game store (July 2018), new cosmetic robe sets purchasable via a Steam Wallet integration (August 2018), bug fixes (September 2018), and finally a timed in-game events/leaderboard feature (November 16, 2018). The last developer communication on record is the November 16, 2018 patch post. No developer updates, roadmaps, or content announcements have appeared since that date. No unreleased DLC is listed on the store. The developer never announced additional content beyond what shipped during the 2018 update cycle, and the original stated purpose of that cycle (UI experimentation) was a finite exercise rather than an ongoing content commitment. The game has been receiving no updates since November 2018, consistent with a product that has reached its natural end of active support.
Evidence
Patch 1.9.3.8 introduced timed in-game events with leaderboards. This is the last recorded developer communication for Magicka.

Paradox explicitly stated that updates to Magicka 1 were being made for UI/A/B-testing purposes, not to deliver new game content. Players were told to expect small patches as part of experiments, not expansions.

About this game

Magicka is a satirical action-adventure game set in a rich fantasy world based on Norse mythology. The player assumes the role of a wizard from a sacred order tasked with stopping an evil sorcerer who has thrown the world into turmoil, his foul creations besieging the forces of good.
Players will be able to combine the elements to cast spells, wreaking havoc and devastation on the minions of darkness. They will also be able to team up with friends and fight their way through the campaign, or test their skills in the magickal arts through other challenging modes.
In Magicka, up to four players take on a grand adventure to save their world from certain doom using a fully dynamic spell system. The adventure mode takes the players across three different levels, ranging from the lush forests of mountain valleys to the frozen halls of the Mountain King where wits and creative thinking are the keys to victory.
In the unlockable hardcore challenge mode, players fight off waves of enemies to earn their place on local and online leaderboards.
