About this game

Run. Deceive. Turn the tables at the summit.

Maybe Hero is an action game featuring the distinct playstyles of Runners and Snipers, plus unpredictable Supply abilities. Face your friends in 2–12 player online multiplayer, or jump straight into a single-player round with NPCs.

Will you dodge bullets on your way to the objective, or read your opponent’s next move through a scope? From capturing points to searching a maze for keys and switching between Runner and Sniper atop a tower, each map and Supply ability creates new opportunities.

Single-player — Start on your own, without the wait

Enjoy rounds with NPCs without waiting for other players. Play on all four maps: Desert, Basecamp, Maze, and King of the Tower.

Set the NPC count from 1 to 50, and adjust the difficulty and each map’s round rules. In Desert, Basecamp, and Maze, choose to play as a Runner or Sniper. In King of the Tower, everyone starts as a Runner and changes roles through Supply crates.

Single-player results do not count toward cumulative wins or Steam rankings.

Runner — Disrupt the Snipers’ aim and seize your chance

A head-on rush is not your only option. Use cover, change the timing of your movements, and draw the Snipers’ attention elsewhere.

Move quickly with a grappling hook, or approach your objective while withstanding bullets with Stone Man’s tough body. Even if you fall, you can redeploy. Run back into the action and complete your team’s objective.

Sniper — Read their next move

Will you track a sprinting Runner with your sights, or guard the route to the objective?

Use a rifle and a sniper rifle to stop the Runners. Keep an eye on opponents hiding behind cover or suddenly jumping into view. Accurate shots and quick decisions are essential against Runners whose appearance and movements change with Supply abilities.

Four maps, different contests

King of the Tower — A Runner on the climb, a Sniper at the summit

Everyone starts as a Runner. Use an unlimited grappling hook to climb the platforms and reach the Supply crates at the summit. Cross the bridges connecting the towers to find your next opportunity.

Pick up a Sniper transformation from a Supply crate to turn from a pursuing Runner into a shooting Sniper. Eliminate opponents with a rifle and sniper rifle. When the transformation expires or you are eliminated, become a Runner again and go after the next crate.

Even other Snipers are enemies here. The player with the most eliminations when time runs out wins. You need at least one elimination to win; players tied for the highest count share the victory.

Desert — Break through across open ground

Avoid the Snipers on the tower and capture the active points. The Runner team wins by securing every point within the time limit. The Sniper team must defend the remaining points until the end.

Basecamp — Find opportunities between obstacles and cover

Move between containers and structures on your way to the points. The point-capture rules are the same as in Desert, with different routes and sightlines. Choose when to leave cover and use your Supply ability.

Maze — Jump over walls and find the keys

The objectives change in Maze. Runners use their default Super Jump to move around and collect Escape Keys from supply crates. Snipers track down Runners to reach their team’s elimination target.

The Runner team wins by reaching its key target first; the Sniper team wins by reaching its elimination target first. If the Runners fail to reach their key target within the time limit, the Snipers win. Targets and the time limit can be adjusted in the map settings.

A single supply crate can change the way you play

Shrink, grow huge, or run with an elongated body. Create confusion with clones, obscure vision with smoke, or build walls to make new cover.

Even on the same route against the same opponent, the abilities you pick up create different opportunities. Choose where and how to use the ability you have just gained.

Self-painting — Join the chase in a look you painted yourself

Paint your character from head to torso, arms, and legs. Show other players a look decorated with your own colors and patterns.

Choose a standout look or a design that matches your friends. Join the chase with a character you decorated yourself.
