Evaluation
Medusa's Labyrinth launched on February 15, 2016 as a deliberately short, free-to-play teaser — the store description explicitly states the game "was originally planned to be a part of a much larger game" but was released as-is so players could experience a glimpse of the concept. The developer was transparent from the start that this was not a full product.
Following launch, Guru Games released patches and quality-of-life improvements through early 2017, then shipped a VR version of the game (Medusa's Labyrinth VR) on May 25, 2017 as the final major addition to the project. At that time, the developer stated their next step was to "keep improving the game as well as continue our progress on the sequel."
Throughout 2016 and 2017, Guru Games was actively pursuing publisher funding for a larger "Medusa 2" sequel (referred to internally as "M2"), hoping to launch it in the first half of 2018. However, all sequel-related communications refer to a separate, new game — not additional content for this release. The store description itself confirms this framing, noting they are "working on something similar, a spiritual sequel to Medusa."
The last developer communication on record for this game is the VR launch post from May 25, 2017 — nearly nine years ago. No sequel has been announced as shipped, no further content updates have been made to this game, and no developer posts have appeared since. The game was intentionally released as a short, complete freebie, received one major content addition (the VR version), and has been silent ever since. It is best understood as a finished product that has been complete since May 2017.

About this game
Medusa’s Labyrinth is a very short mythological first-person horror game set in ancient Greece. It takes myths and legends that have stayed with us for over 2000 years and mix them together in a game that blends horror with stealth.
The player will have to carefully pick their path through the abandoned hallways on Temple Island, through winding catacombs and dark corners to solve the mysteries that lurk within the labyrinth.
The game in it's current state was originally planned to be a part of a much larger game, but we decided to launch this version as a short free adventure, so anyone with a Steam account can play it without paying a dime. We really hope you will enjoy the experience, as we made it public for just that reason: For you people to get a glimpse of what Medusa could have become with a longer production time and additional funding. Right now we are working on something similar, a spiritual sequel to Medusa and we hope to show/tell you more about it soon!
