Evaluation
Militia launched on December 2, 2015 and received a steady stream of feature patches through mid-2017, with the last notable update being the "House Cleaning" patch 1.14 on June 14, 2017. Since then, BrainGoodGames has continued making games — the developer's news posts are largely announcements of new titles in their catalogue (SkyBoats, Axes and Acres, Solar Settlers, Rolling in the Reef, and eventually Militia 2), rather than new content for Militia itself. The August 11, 2019 announcement of Militia 2 effectively marks the end of Militia's development lifecycle, as it serves as the successor carrying the series forward. The store description notes that the Dark World expansion is already included in the base game for free, meaning all content has been bundled in. No DLC is listed, no future updates have been announced, and developer communication specific to Militia has been absent since June 2017. The game launched as a complete, self-contained product and all content additions have long since shipped.
Evidence
Developer launched Militia 2 as a standalone successor on Steam, adding new worlds and features. This effectively signals the end of active development on the original Militia.
Patch 1.14 'House Cleaning Update' released — the last known update specifically for Militia.

About this game
Militia is a bite-sized turn-based strategy game that brings the thrill of victory to single-player. It's simple to pick up, and from the moment you start, you'll be learning and improving -- building your skills, learning new strategies, and ranking up on the single player ladder. And as you do, the game evolves with you, providing a worthy challenge every time. Militia also features procedurally generated levels so the challenge stays fresh.

In Militia, you are the leader of a small troop of warriors, mages and cavalry and attempt to rout the local marauding banditry by dispatching their captains. Gameplay is turn based; on your turn you can issue one command to each of your units, and then the enemies each move on their turn according to strict and transparent movement rules.
"[Militia] might be the best single player strategy game I've played this year." -Keith Burgun (Lead designer of Auro, Dinofarm Games)
"Militia is potentially a true star for strategy gamers." - PlayPlayFun
"Really digging this so far. It's like a party-based Hoplite." - IndieGameHunt (Game Jolt editor)
"It's like chess. Except much better." - Game Jolt review
