Evaluation

Miniatures launched on November 14, 2024 as a complete anthology of four hand-drawn short stories. The launch post described the stories as "finished, wrapped, and put in a box," and the game shipped alongside its original soundtrack DLC. Through April 11, 2025, the developer issued minor follow-up updates — a save system fix on November 27, 2024 and four achievements added on April 11, 2025 — but announced no additional story content. The picture changed on July 3, 2026, when Other Tales Interactive posted a teaser showing a cryptic animated GIF of an object washing ashore, accompanied by the message: "We found a curious object on the beach the other day. We can't wait to tell you more." This is the developer's most recent communication, and it clearly signals that something new is coming. However, the post does not specify whether this is a new story for Miniatures, a DLC expansion, or an entirely new game from the studio. As of today (September 23, 2026), no follow-up announcement has appeared to clarify what was teased. The nature and scope of the announced content — and whether it extends Miniatures itself — remains unknown.

About this game

Miniatures: An art house game collection

Play four hand-drawn memories from childhood and explore the strangeness and unease hiding beneath familiar moments. Some stories are mysterious, others whimsical, and all are a bit experimental. Each story is supported by its own unique art style and soundscape.

A short, open-to-interpretation experience with a total playtime of about 30–40 minutes.

What's inside?

Open up an old wooden box and discover four different objects: a screwdriver, a lizard, a seashell and a moth. Each one has its own story to tell:

🪛 Familiar

Assemble a curious cabinet together with your family. It is not as easy, as it seems.

🦎 The Paludarium

Take care of your pet lizard while nature slowly creeps in.

🦋 The House of the Moon

Search for the moon in a dark seascape.

🐚 The Last Sand Castle

Help the music-loving inhabitants of a sand castle.

The experience

Miniatures is an atmospheric and slightly unsettling experience for players who enjoy narrative experimentation, stylised visuals and subtle, but poignant storytelling. It features:

  • Hand-drawn and award-winning art with a picture book aesthetic

  • Short and impactful stories that are emotional and open to interpretation.

  • Atmospheric and ambient soundscapes

  • Simple and easy interactions: point, click and explore.

Follow the moon, feed the lizard, and discover surreal childhood memories, where the familiar turns mysterious and strange.
