Monster Sanctuary

Monster Sanctuary launched on December 8, 2020 and received a steady stream of free post-launch content updates. The developer shipped several major updates after launch, including the Legendary Keeper Update (August 19, 2021), the Counter Attack Update (December 13, 2021), and the large free Forgotten World DLC (June 30, 2022), which added a new area, ten new monsters, and three new game modes. On May 9, 2023, the developer released the Relics of Chaos update and explicitly stated it was "the last major content update for Monster Sanctuary" before the studio shifted focus to their next game, Aethermancer. The creator's personal note in that update confirmed: "This is going to be the last big update for Monster Sanctuary." A follow-up post on May 22, 2023 celebrating the Manticorb plushie reiterated this by referring to it as "our last major content update" and noted the studio was moving on to Aethermancer. In September 2025, when Aethermancer launched into Early Access, the developer posted again about Monster Sanctuary and confirmed: "We still want to work on Monster Sanctuary within our limits while we are focusing on Aethermancer. We plan to release a small update for Monster Sanctuary on Steam to fix bugs... (but no new content)." This confirms the developer's ongoing commitment is maintenance-only — no new content is planned. A security patch was issued on October 3, 2025 consistent with that maintenance stance. Both DLC items listed on the store (the Monster Journal and Soundtrack) were released on launch day and no unreleased DLC exists. The game's content is complete as of the Relics of Chaos update on May 9, 2023.
