Evaluation

Munch launched on November 4, 2024, and Mac n Cheese Games has been actively updating it since. Within the first weeks of launch, the developer pushed several patches — including Patch 1.1 on November 8, 2024, which added the game's final boss (Ördo), and multiple bug-fix patches through November and December 2024. In January 2025, the developer posted a development update acknowledging they had taken a holiday break and had started a smaller side project to keep the studio afloat, while explicitly confirming more patches for Munch were planned. On April 14, 2025, the developer delivered a substantial overhaul: the game's progression structure was redesigned, core mechanics were reworked (eating system, map layout, limb upgrades), the entire game was rebalanced, and the UI was overhauled. That same post noted they were "already working on a few more bug fixes and polish for the next update." The most recent developer communication is from April 14, 2025. Given the post-launch cadence of updates — roughly every few weeks to months — and the explicit statement in that post that further work was underway, the developer has not indicated development is wrapping up. However, as of October 1, 2026, it has been approximately 17 months since that last post, which is a notably long silence given the prior pattern of regular updates. Still, the developer has not announced the conclusion of development or stated that no more content is planned, so the game remains in an ongoing update posture based on the last available communication. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which shipped at launch on November 4, 2024. No paid content expansions have been announced or listed.

Command 13 monsters like Gutpuncher, The Anvil, Bathory, Morbideath and Painkiiller to destroy Ördo's champions. Each is hand-crafted and inspired by a different genre of metal.

As the Chaozborne (Ozzy, the Headless Bat of out of Hell), you’ll command the power of Heavy Metal to slay your way through a dark fantasy world, devouring the Followers of Ördo to grow in size and power to ultimately free the Gods of Metal.

Each playthrough gives you a unique set of encounters and available mutations. But you can still forge your own path. Choose how the Chaozborne evolves by carefully selecting the elements you consume. Unlock all the evolutions to take on Ördo himself.

Collect Chaos Echoes along the way and use them to permanently enhance your monster, giving you the ultimately power fantasy. Save your echoes longer for even stronger rewards.
