Evaluation

Neon Drive launched on May 12, 2016 as a retro arcade game with 7 levels. The developer added new features and polish through 2016 and early 2017 (practice mode, free run mode, UI overhaul), then shipped Level 8 — the game's final major content addition — on August 31, 2017. After that, activity slowed to a localization patch in June 2019, and then went quiet for several years. On August 5–7, 2025, the developer resurfaced with a pair of posts announcing a spiritual successor called Neon Hyperdrive, and released a compatibility update (v1.7) to bring Neon Drive up to Unity 6 for modern system support. The developer was explicit that v1.7 "is not a content update" — it's purely a technical maintenance release. The in-game teaser for Neon Hyperdrive makes clear that the studio's creative focus has moved to the new title. There are no announced plans to add further content to Neon Drive itself. The only DLC ever released — the Soundtrack — shipped on June 10, 2016, and no additional DLC has been listed or announced. The game shipped as a complete, finite arcade experience and the developer's own communications confirm the studio has moved on to its next project.
Evidence
Developer released v1.7, explicitly described as a compatibility update (not a content update), upgrading to Unity 6 for modern system support. The update also includes an in-game teaser for the upcoming spiritual successor Neon Hyperdrive, signaling the studio's focus has moved to a new project.

About this game

Neon Drive is a slick retro-futuristic arcade game that will make your brain melt. You've been warned.

From beautiful cityscapes and ocean roads to exploding enemy spaceships, Neon Drive has it all. It's inspired by the arcade games of the 80's, but set against a futuristic backdrop of glowing cyber-grid, all in silky-smooth graphics. Neon Drive brings you 8 amazing levels, adding up to hours of enjoyment. Each level features multiple twists and perspective changes, keeping you on your toes (err, wheels) throughout the gameplay.

Neon Drive will put your mad dodging skills to a real test, mercilessly pushing the limits of your reaction time and short-term memory to avoid obstacles and dead-ends. Seriously, this game is wicked; just when you think you've got the hang of it, it turns the table on you.

Each level of the game comes with a custom-made retro music track, perfectly tuned and in sync with the roadblocks and your enemies. This allows you to just follow the beat, unplug, and zen out. Watch the landscape seamlessly morph from one scene to the next, in a ballet of colors and shapes, and let your inner driver take the wheel. You've got this.
