Evaluation
Sunset Drive 1986 is a solo-developed arcade driving game that entered Early Access on January 20, 2021. After a handful of patches and small feature updates in early 2021, the developer posted on September 3, 2021 stating they are "unable to update the game anymore" and made the game free as a result. This is a direct statement that active development has ended, but the game was never brought to a full 1.0 release — it remains in Early Access. There have been no developer communications of any kind since September 3, 2021. The game is still purchasable (now free) on Steam, still carries the Early Access label, and no completion or 1.0 graduation has been announced. Anyone picking this up should be aware that development has stopped and the game is unlikely to receive further updates or reach a finished state.
Evidence
Developer explicitly stated they are 'unable to update the game anymore' and made the game free. This is the last communication from the developer and signals that development has ended.
Last feature update (v0.9.0.7) added gear ratio setup customization. After this, only the September 2021 announcement of development ending followed.
