Retrowave launched on May 6, 2022 and has received a steady stream of updates over its lifetime. The two major content drops were the May 2022 update (which added new maps, a Map Pack DLC, trading cards, and new free worlds) and the January 2023 update (which added multiplayer, two new cars, a new leaderboard, 20 new songs, and the Custom Music DLC). Smaller feature patches were delivered regularly from April 2020 through early 2023. The most recent content addition was the Retrowave Soundtrack DLC, which released on August 13, 2025. All four DLC entries in the store listing are marked as released, with no unreleased items. The developer has not announced any upcoming content, roadmap, or future updates since January 2023. The January 2023 post mentioned that "other games in the same genre will be born," suggesting the developer's focus has shifted toward new projects rather than continued Retrowave development. With the soundtrack DLC shipping in August 2025 as the final content addition and no communication or announcements of anything further, the game appears to have concluded its content lifecycle.
