Evaluation

One Dog Story launched on April 28, 2017 and received several years of post-launch patches and balance updates. On July 13, 2020, the developer explicitly announced that the July 2020 update was "the final one," stating: "We've finally managed to design the game the way we wanted." They thanked the community and directed players to their other games — a clear closing statement on this title's development. Two small maintenance patches followed in November 2020 and January 2021, likely automatic stability and rebalance tweaks, but these do not contradict the developer's stated intent to conclude updates. The developer's own July 2020 statement remains the definitive word on the game's completion. No new content, DLC, or roadmap has been announced since. The only DLC — the original soundtrack — shipped on launch day in 2017. One Dog Story is a complete, finished game. Anyone waiting for more content can consider it done as of July 13, 2020.
