Operation: Tango

Operation: Tango launched on June 1, 2021 and received one major free content update — the Challenge Mode — on October 15, 2021, which added a new area, new puzzles, and new robots to hack. A smaller patch in January 2022 refined the Challenge Mode timer and fixed bugs, and a May 2022 patch added speedrun-related quality-of-life features. The game also expanded to Nintendo Switch in August 2024, accompanied by full crossplay support across all platforms. A security patch was issued in October 2025 to address a Unity vulnerability. These later updates are maintenance in nature and do not represent new gameplay content. The most significant signal about the game's content future came in June 2024, when Clever Plays announced their next game, Happy Bastards. In that announcement, the developer stated: "This doesn't mean we're closing the door completely on additional Operation: Tango content, but the team is excited to explore a new genre and gameplay style with Happy Bastards." Since then, all developer communications have focused entirely on Happy Bastards — its playtest launches (October 2025 and May 2026) and ongoing development — with no further mention of Operation: Tango content. The June 2024 statement was a soft hedge rather than a concrete commitment, and no new content has followed in the two years since. The single DLC listed on the store is the original soundtrack, which has been released since launch. No unreleased DLC exists in the store listing. The game launched as a relatively compact co-op experience, shipped one free content update in its first year, and has been in maintenance mode since. All available evidence points to content development having concluded with the Challenge Mode update on October 15, 2021.
