Evaluation

Operation Warcade VR launched into its 1.0 release on August 4, 2017, graduating from an earlier pre-release state. After launch, the developer shipped several feature updates through early 2019, adding new controllers, haptic support, audio improvements, and graphical polish. The most recent developer communication on record is a June 17, 2021 announcement that the game had been ported natively to the Oculus Quest platform with a free demo. At launch in 2017, the developer mentioned cooperative multiplayer as a planned future feature in multiple posts (v.1.0, v.1.5, v.1.6). However, no subsequent post ever reaffirmed this promise, and the feature never shipped. The last post mentioning it was in January 2018 — over eight years ago as of today. Given the complete absence of any developer communication referencing multiplayer after early 2018, and the long silence since June 2021, that teased feature should be considered abandoned rather than outstanding. The game has received no developer communications since June 17, 2021 — nearly five years of silence. The post-launch update pattern consisted of a burst of activity from mid-2017 through early 2019, with no major content releases (only platform ports and peripheral support patches) and nothing at all after 2021. The store description presents the game as a complete experience with defined modes and content. All of this indicates the game shipped as a finished product and development has concluded, with the Oculus Quest release in June 2021 representing the final meaningful milestone.
Evidence
v1.0 launch: all 36 immersive levels and 6 arcade levels completed. Developer noted early access was over and expressed excitement about cooperative multiplayer, which was ultimately never delivered.
