Outer Wilds launched on June 18, 2020 and received one major expansion, Echoes of the Eye, on September 28, 2021. The developer has explicitly and repeatedly stated that no further major content is planned for the game.
As early as September 26, 2023 (Patch 14), Mobius Digital stated: "there are no more major updates planned for Outer Wilds or Echoes of the Eye because we are moving on to new projects." This was reaffirmed in the most recent developer communication, Patch 16 on May 6, 2025, which states: "there are no more major updates planned for Outer Wilds or Echoes of the Eye because we are hard at work on our next game." The studio also explained that even maintenance patches will be limited going forward, as their next game is their priority.
Both DLC items listed on the store are released: the original soundtrack (June 18, 2020) and Echoes of the Eye (September 28, 2021). No unreleased DLC exists. The developer has conclusively wrapped up content for this title. The game is complete as of the Echoes of the Eye release date.
