Evaluation
Overboard! launched on June 2, 2021 as a self-contained narrative game. It received minor bug fix patches in its first week, then was quiet for several years. In May 2024, inkle posted a teaser hinting that "this might not be the last we've seen of" the protagonist Veronica — which turned out to refer to a paid story expansion called "The History Update," released on May 29, 2025, adding new backstory content for Veronica. That same day, a demo for the studio's follow-up game, EXPELLED!, also launched on Steam.
The follow-up game EXPELLED! is a separate title in the same franchise (Steam App ID 2963890), not additional content for Overboard! itself. Inkle announced it in July 2024 and released it on March 12, 2025. The History Update on May 29, 2025 appears to be the last piece of content added to Overboard!. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmaps, and no developer statements indicating further content is planned for this game. The studio's attention has clearly shifted to EXPELLED! as their next product. Overboard! appears complete as of The History Update on May 29, 2025.
