Phantom Galaxies launched into Steam Early Access on November 15, 2023, with the developer explicitly framing it as a work in progress. Throughout 2024, Blowfish Studios maintained an active and frequent update schedule — shipping roughly one to three major feature patches every one to three months. These updates added significant new content: a co-operative Patrols game mode (March 2024), new weapon collections, new enemy types, a revamped Halberd space station hub, expanded level caps, new consumables, a melee system overhaul, and more. The developer's tone across these posts consistently signaled ongoing ambition, with language like "we have grand plans for this game mode" and "exciting plans for 2024." However, the update cadence came to a sharp halt after the October 30, 2024 feature patch (V5.7.4). The only subsequent communication was a brief infrastructure bug fix on May 12, 2025 — and since that date, there has been complete silence from the developer through June 25, 2026. That represents over 13 months without any developer communication, far exceeding the active monthly-to-quarterly rhythm maintained throughout the prior year. The game remains in Early Access, no 1.0 release has been announced, and no statement has been made about the game's future direction or the studio's status. This extended silence raises genuine uncertainty about whether active development is continuing.
