Phantom Squad launched on July 18, 2025 and received a strong post-launch update cadence over the following months. The developer shipped T-Hunt mode on September 1, 2025, followed by Hostage Rescue and Bomb Defusal modes on September 29, 2025. A major matchmaking update with two new difficulty modes (Rookie and Hardcore) arrived on February 20, 2026, accompanied by a stability patch on February 25, 2026. The 2025 roadmap published on July 29, 2025 promised ongoing updates "into late 2025," and all of those commitments were fulfilled. No roadmap extension or further content has been announced since. The clearest signal about Phantom Squad's future came on May 21, 2026, when the sole developer behind Ctrl Freak posted to announce a Discord community and, more importantly, that their next game — Lurking — is already in active development with a playtest coming soon. The post thanks players for their support "since its release last year," framing Phantom Squad as a past chapter. No further updates, DLC, or content plans for Phantom Squad are mentioned anywhere in the post. With all roadmap commitments fulfilled, the developer publicly focused on a new project, and no outstanding promises, the game's content cycle appears complete.
