Pirate101 is a free-to-play MMORPG from KingsIsle Entertainment that continues to receive substantial story-driven content updates at a consistent pace. Three major named updates have shipped since August 2025: The All-Time Heist (August 13, 2025), Shadow of Mictlan (April 8, 2026), and The Trail Goes Cold (August 12, 2026) — the latter introducing an entirely new world called Polaris. This establishes a cadence of roughly one major update every 4–6 months, with no signs of slowing. In between major releases, the developer also ships smaller feature updates such as the El Toro Promotion Update (December 5, 2025). The weeks leading up to The Trail Goes Cold saw a series of teaser announcements (July 6–28, 2026), reflecting the same pre-release hype pipeline the developer has used consistently. The most recent major update launched on August 12, 2026 — just 16 days ago — placing this game squarely in the middle of an active content cycle. The Arc II storyline involving the legendary map to El Dorado remains ongoing, and KingsIsle has given no indication that development is winding down.

An army of clockwork soldiers called the Armada have troubling plans for the Spiral. Recently broken out of their prison and determined to thwart their evil plot, you and your ragtag crew of companions need to locate all pieces of the legendary map to El Dorado before it’s too late. Can you stay ahead of the Armada and find the map before they do?
Determine your piratin’ style and pick one of five different classes: Musketeer, Swashbuckler, Buccaneer, Privateer, and Witchdoctor. Each class comes with different strengths and weaknesses to learn and conquer.
Recruit hundreds of companions along your journey to prepare for the hard battles ahead of you. Use their skills wisely to trigger crushing combos and defeat enemies in exciting turn-based tactics combat.
Customize and upgrade your ship as you navigate the dangerous skyways. Unleash powerful ship abilities and board nearby enemies in a show of nautical force!
