Pirate Ships is a free-to-play PvP shipbuilding game that launched on March 3, 2026. Since release, HeroCraft Ltd. has maintained a steady stream of updates — a new captain and mystical gear system in April 2026, a major reward and balance overhaul in early May 2026, a full Clans system on May 28, 2026, a technical balance patch on June 25, 2026, and a substantial feature update adding Clan Upgrades and reworked combat systems on August 13, 2026. The game is built around persistent online PvP, league rankings, clan progression, and ongoing character and equipment additions — the defining structure of a game designed to run and grow indefinitely. The developer explicitly noted in the May 28, 2026 Clans post that the clan system is "just getting started" with "more activities and features will be added in upcoming updates," and the August 2026 update delivered exactly that with the new Clan Research system. There is no indication the developer considers any phase of this game's development complete.
