Piworld is a free-to-play multiplayer survival game that launched its 1.0 release on October 27, 2025, after roughly ten months of pre-release development. The developer described this milestone as the beginning of "the content & improvement phase," signaling that the game was designed to grow after launch rather than ship as a finished product. Since the 1.0 launch, the game has received two major updates. On August 1, 2026, the developer published "The Great Rework," describing a complete rebuild of the game — every sprite redrawn, the skill system redesigned, new enemies, biomes, and crafting recipes added, and a deeper building system introduced. Then on October 1, 2026, the "Wild Waters" update launched, which the developer called "the biggest Piworld update yet." It doubled the starting world's size, added three new island biomes (viking, dwarf, and elf lands), introduced six new weapon types, a full boss chain of six bosses, two new ore tiers, a journal and daily tasks system, and numerous balance changes. The store description explicitly states that alchemy, sorcery, and other mystical elements "will be added to the game as the 'story' develops," and the developer has consistently framed the game as an evolving, ever-expanding world. Piworld is free-to-play and positioned as a massively multiplayer online game, built from the ground up to receive ongoing content indefinitely. The October 1, 2026 update shipped on today's date (October 4, 2026 is the recorded release date for the Steam listing as well), meaning this is a live, actively expanding game with no indication of content completion.
