Evaluation

Ragnar launched into Early Access on November 27, 2025 and officially reached version 1.0 on September 13, 2026. The 1.0 launch post on September 14, 2026 explicitly stated that "reaching full release does not mean development on Ragnar is ending" and that "Version 1.1 and future updates will continue to bring new content, improvements, balancing, and more additions." This is a direct developer commitment to ongoing post-launch content. That commitment was immediately backed up by action: just four days after the 1.0 launch, the developer shipped a substantial update on September 17, 2026 adding a brand-new Necromancer class, a new Staff weapon type, and a reworked Ascendancy system. The launch post itself called this "one of the biggest changes we've made to the game so far" and reiterated "we're far from finished." During Early Access, the game also received the Muspelheim Update on April 30, 2026 — a major content drop adding a new realm, boss (Surtr), and new god character (Tyr) — which showed the developer's pattern of substantial content additions throughout development. The developer has been consistently communicative and active since Early Access launch in November 2025, with a total of six developer posts on record. The game is actively receiving new content with more explicitly promised, and the developer has shown they follow through quickly on those promises.
