Rakuen

Rakuen originally launched on May 10, 2017 as a complete narrative adventure game. Over the years, the developer has continued to support and expand it in meaningful ways. In December 2022, Laura Shigihara announced a major PC update, including a brand-new custom-built game engine, new portrait art, character animations, Japanese localization by professional localizer 8-4, and new music collaborations. This update arrived alongside the March 23, 2023 launch of Mr. Saitou, a companion spin-off game set in the Rakuen universe. On March 24, 2023, Rakuen: Deluxe Edition launched on Nintendo Switch, bundling the base game, Mr. Saitou, and a 3D animated film collection — representing the most complete package of Rakuen content to date. Both DLC items (the original soundtrack and the Farmer in the Sky animated short film) are released with no unreleased DLC listed on the store. The most recent developer communication (February 29, 2024) is about a standalone music album from composer Laura Shigihara — a personal creative project separate from Rakuen's game content. There are no announced future game updates, expansions, or unshipped content for Rakuen itself. The combination of the Deluxe Edition release, the completed engine overhaul and localization work, all DLC shipped, and no outstanding commitments points to the game's content being complete as of the Deluxe Edition and PC update launch in March 2023.
